It is that time again. It is early Christmas Day as I’m updating this blog. It has been over a year since I have posted here or updated my Nesilos website. In all honesty there hasn’t been a lot that I have been aware of that has been going on this year in the Missile Silo world. What I do know for sure is that the Siloworld website has been down for a long time and the domain has been bought by someone from over seas. The owner of that site from what I hear has not been in contact with people that have known him over the years. There are people trying to contact him to see if they can get a copy of the site to get it put back up. Time will tell if that will happen. There hasn’t been any recent activity in the Nebraska sites this year. I do know that there has been some activity going on in some of the other states. I have seen a video of a titan 2 being opened up in Arkansas. That site was recently sold and I have contact information for the new owner and will be making attempts to contact him. I had heard the Mitchell site in Kansas is in the process of being sold. There has also been some recent break ins at a couple of the Titan 2 sites in Arizona.

I have had a pretty busy year to really commit to much time to my Missile Silo hobby. I have hopes that this next year will provide me some extra time to be able to get back into it.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I try to reflect during this time the things that I am thankful for and there are to many to list here. I am most thankful that my mom is still around and that she is healthy for the most part.

I haven’t been in contact with the new owner of the Wilber site for a few months so I don’t know to much of what is going on out there but know that they are continuing to clean out the LCC.

I also contacted the owner of http://www.survivalcondo.com/ and talked to him about there project going in down at the Glasco site in Kansas. I had intended on meeting him there the following weekend but was unable to make the trip. I see the price of the condos have went up since I last checked the site. I with them all the best in there venture.

Where the heck have I been?

So it has been a little while since I have posted on the blog. Mostly because there hasn’t been to much to report or anything going on really. There was almost a possible sale of the Palmyra site but things just didn’t work. Instead the people ended up buying the Avoca site here in Nebraska and I think that it was a good deal for both the previous owner and the new ones. I have spend a few days the last couple of weekends and have been helping the new owners out when I can with some stuff. Not working for a few months can make you a lazy person and I am not afraid to say that. It is good though that I have been able to do something that has to do with this hobby of mine with missile silos and to be able to help others out. My first visit to the Avoca site the new owners had moved there trailer onto the site and had been living there for about 2 weeks and have been getting the kinks worked out. They have set up a solar panels to power there camper and last Saturday I help with the installation of a small wind turbine to help with the power when the sun isn’t out. It was a fun experience and am glad that I could help them out. I have also been trying to do a little update to the website as I have plenty of time to do stuff like that now. Although I didn’t make a lot of major changes I wanted to make it look a little different that it has been for the last couple of years. I have added some new photos of the Avoca site and a lot of links as well to some of my social sites that I hang out at. I have purchased a little mini HD cam that records 720p HD @30fps and have taken some video as well of the Avoca site and have been uploading it to my youtube account. It is a tedious process as anyone that does any work with video HD video takes up alot of space and a long time to upload. Just 9 minutes of video is around 600 megs. I know some of the videos may not be that exciting but hey its not like I am getting payed to do this stuff. I just hope that everyone enjoys it. My video cam is a Kodak Zi6 and after doing some long research on the internet I found that is was the best value for the money I spent. I can use rechargable batteries for it and it has a SDHC card slot for extra memory. It has its flaws but it is what I have been needing to take basic video of stuff that I am doing here or there with the Missile sites.

Oh my what a semi busy month. I did a 3 Atlas f showing to some potential buyers, Was a long day but was so much fun to get back to some of the sites. I missed visiting with the owners of the Tecumseh site I was hoping to get out there but work was so hectic that i was unable to make it there. Added a little google widget thing to the web site on site locations. Seen that google has some kewl features on there Google Earth. You can actually see some of the roads that take you directly to the Atlas F missile sites on GooGle Earth Street View.

Busy Busy Busy

It has been a moderatly busy few months since my last post. I have received a few emails of people thinking about buying a Atlas F site. I will be showing one of the sites next weekend to a couple that is interesting in purchasing. I heard that the Glasco site in Kansas has been sold. I would be interested in talking to the new owners so if anyone knows them give them my info or vice versa. I believe that there is a titan 2 site for sale in Arkansas also but am not sure of the price. I hope to visit with the owners of the Tecumseh site again here in the next couple weeks. I hope to take some more photos with my new camera. Heard also that a tornado trashed one of the Atlas E sites in Colorado surface structures I heard were gone.

Palmyra Revisited

I visited the Palmyra site again yesterday. It was a fun time. We took the potential buyers down into the entryway which was muddy from all the rain lately. The water level down in the entryway was pretty much the same as when the water raises it overflows threw the stairway leading to the lcc. The lcc was damp as usual. When we went down the stairway to the silo tunnel we noticed about 2 feet of water at the tunnel level which meant that the level of water in the silo had raised considerably since out last visit. The water level in the silo was about 35 feet below the silo ledge on our last visit and seeing the water that high was quite a view. We moved threw the water in the tunnel to the silo ledge just to get a view of the silo area for the buyers to see. Think we might need to take a small boat next time we visit the site to take a stroll in the silo.

I will be going to the Palmyra site again tomorrow to show it to a potential buyer. I am looking forward to the visit and hope that they people are interested in it. It will take a lot of work but it could be a really nice site if someone want to take the time to work on it and fix it up. Most of the sites are that way for the most part. It has rained a lot in the last week so I am wondering how the entryway is going to be besides really muddy and if the water levels are up in the silo and entryway. I guess that I will know more tomorrow.

I was suppose to go with my silo exploring buddy today to go to a telephone convention located in one of the old telephone communications vaults here in Nebraska. Didn’t have a baby sitter so I couldn’t make the trip, but I told him to get a lot of photos for me and to get some information on where the vaults are in Nebraska and so forth. I am still updating the blog with links and stuff. I know there are tons of them. I just tend to put the ones up there that I visit. If there is one that you would like added then let me know.

After spending most the morning trying to figure out WordPress I am finally understanding and learning the layout. I wanted to make this blog to talk about things pertaining to the Nesilos web site, thoughts and Ideas. I often have a lot of emails and comments about the site and am planing to do a revamp of the site here soon to make it look more modern. I just need to learn some more about web design and that is always fun since I don’t have time to do many of the things with the site that I want.
